Hungover In The City of Squallier

Lost and without a clue, the crew is at it again. But this time the stakes are higher and the city is bigger and more dangerous. Welcome to the city of Bangkok the city of squallier (As Chow puts it). Waking up without a clue as to what happened the night prior and again someone in the crew is lost. It is up to Phil, Stew and hapless Allen to find the lost person in the city where crime is rampant, whore houses and bars are a plenty and monkeys deal blow.

Many many people I have listened to have told me "Not as good as the first one." "Oh it wasn't funny at all."

All I have to tell you is, go into this movie with your expectations not set. This is the flaw of people going to see a sequel. They walk into a movie with these ULTRA OMEGA Grand expectations and when the movie fails to deliver they act like they were taken for a ride.

Very Very few sequels live up to the potential of their originating film franchise. Mainly because producers and directors feel like they have to out do themselves in the next installment and abandon the formula that won them success with their first movie. Hangover Part 2 does not do that, same premise altered story but it works because there was really only a few over the top things in the story.

Rating this movie, I give it an eight out of ten. Not nine because it does have some factors to it that make it not as good. But baring the problems, it is good mindless fun. The ending to the main story is slightly predictable but that is okay. Go and see this movie, judge it for yourself. But do yourself a favor and unset your expectations.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone. Hope everyone is relaxing and having a fun weekend. This would normally be a lazy weekend but since I am now back in Retail work, my holiday weekends are jammed packed with you guessed it working lots and lots of hours. Which I do not mind, because time working = more money = me being 1 step closer to getting a newer car.

What has your blog master been up to since the last post. Well besides from work, he has been indulging in the stress relief that is FPS (First Person Shooters) Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Online of course. I know I know I should have been working here on the blog and cranking out post after post of entertainment news and reviews. But frankly my work load has reached a level where I am completely and utterly shot by the end of my work day and do not feel like scouring the interwebs for stories to report on.

Regular posting shall resume once my work schedule calms down once the season begins to slow down.

Things to look forward too

1. The return of FCFF
2. Hangover 2 Review
3. Thor Review
4. Episode 3 of The Podcast

Thank you for understanding why the site has slowed down as of late.

Impressions of a nerdier mainstream show

When being a critic in the world of Entertainment at large. One must emerge themselves into all aspects of things entertainment. This includes watching things that you hate as well as what you like. I find American Idol and all shows like it and their dancing counterparts overrated and overhyped. By no means am I saying that all reality TV shows are bad. There are some really good ones that are produced but do not get that much hype because they don't have Ryan Seacrest hosting the show. Something about Ryan Seacrest just makes me want to punch him in the face whenever I see or hear him....... odd.

But luckily this post is about a TV Drama/Comedy on FOX. The critically acclaimed, much loved and much watched show. Glee. I am not here to pick on Glee no no no. I am here today to bring to light some of the nit picks I had about the current season. Or should I say Second Half of the Second Season.

The second season of Glee started off nice and strong with many new and interesting plot hooks to keep returning and new watchers interested in the show. But then comes the Christmas episode and the subsequent season finale with the break up of Finn and Rachel. Drama added to the show keeps viewers guessing and hating one character over another. Good but when the Second half starts we reintroduce the love interest of Finn and Quinn and the beginning of the who does Finn love more love triangle. IT DOMINATES THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON. This aspect of the show even manages to out weight the moral issues of each episode or overlapping moral issues. The music which is the main part of the show went from strong in the first half to mild in the second with a few good selections here and there.

The Regionals episode where the club did their own Original songs was by far one of the strongest episode of the Second Half of Season Two. Because it shows the audience that the club has actual talent and doesn't have to continually do pieces that are dominating main stream radio and old classics.

Glee itself has a problem of bringing to light some strong plot hooks and then completely leaving them out to dry for the majority of the season, touch on it later with no real closure and then leave it out again. Even with the Kurt being picked on by the in the closet football player it has come to a point where they should really just close the chapter but are having a hard time doing so. Because at least in the current season the entirety of the show is The Quinn Finn Rachel Triangle.

With one episode left in the season itself and tension is mounting for the show. I just hope it ends on a good solid note and not a sour one. If it has a strong ending I want to see the writers be able to come back and try and top themselves. But if it ends I like think it is going to end. Well. Then I see Season Three starting out cliche.

Welcome Back (PSN Half Erect)

Back in April I posted on the Hiatus of the PSN due to a Hacker Attack. I am not completely one hundred percent as to when it went back online. But it is back. I fired up my PSN to my joy I see "A System Update must be installed. You can do this by going to settings and System Updates." I eagerly scrolled over to the update and got it. When it was complete to my joy I was able to log on to my PSN account (after a password change).

You maybe wondering as to the title selection. It means that while PSN is back up the Playstation Store is not. It is still undergoing maintenance. While normally this wouldn't bug me, but I would like to see PSN restored to it's former glory. While the argument of which Gaming Console Online Service is better. Let me first say this. Just because your online service for your console wasn't hacked and had to be shut down, does not make your service better.

I will not go into that debate because this is joyful news that the PSN is making it's way back. Through trials and tribulations what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.

Fast and Confused Times Five

For those of you avid Fast and Furious Franchise Fans (Like Myself) please let me know if you are confused by the story presented to us since the return of the main cast. For those of you who followed the story, explain to me the change of Brian's (Paul Walker) character. At the end of 2 Fast 2 Furious Brian and Rome had just completed their undercover mission for Customs to clear their criminal records and had plans to stay in Miami and open a garage. Skip a whole bunch of years and return to Fast and Furious. Brian is now a full fledged FBI agent on a short leash but still an Agent. Rome is not mentioned and the aspirations to open a garage swept under the rug. At the End of Fast and Furious Brian is back to being an on the run from the law.

Fast Five rolls around and picks up right where Fast and Furious ends. Dom is rescued and the crew escapes to south of the boarder. End of Story YAY! No just kidding. Once down in South America in Rio the crew is brought back together with Vince. You know the dude that almost lost his arm in the end of The Fast And The Furious. Vince gets Brian and Mia involved in a job that ultimatly back fires and send them to the very tippy top of the FBI's most wanted list. Once you are at that level the FBI doesn't fuck around anymore. They are so serious about getting you that they send..........

*Music Blars*
"KNOW YOUR ROLE AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH. How dare you try to describe the awesome that is THE ROCK. Do you think you can Do this Properly."

Me: I......

Rock: "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK YOU CAN DO!"

"The FBI has the smarts the tenacity to BRING IT, to the criminals so much so. That they tell me THE ROCK, to shine my size 13 boot up all real pretty, turn that son-bitch sideways AND STICK STRAIGHT UP DOM'S MONKEY ASS."

*Cuts off power to the mics*

Anyway. Dwayne The Rock Johnson playing an old school style wrath of god manhunter is sent after the crew to bring them to justice. It is at this point where the movie goes from being about The Crew to The Rock doing what he does best and stealing the show. One of the best fight scenes in the entire movie is between The Rock and Vin Diesel. Vin is a big dude but next to The Rock it may as well be David Vs Goliath.

Through out the pacing of the movie which is typical of an F&F movie we add in the cast of 2 Fast 2 Furious minus The Hot Asian Chick. Again with a character change not only for Rome but for Ludacris's character also. Knowing that they messed up the character for Brian the compensate the change by saying that "We had lives before you knew us." Rome is the least changed but still changed.

The story while choppy at times ties mostly everything together and gives you high paced adrenaline action which is always fun. If they are going with the story the way I think they are. The character of Han will not be appearing in the last Fast And Furious movie and I think they will be bringing in the Kid from Tokyo Drift. Because sooner or later they have to deal with the fact that Han's character is technically dead in the story.

I give Fast Five a 8 out of 10 because character and story confusion and the lack pacing of the story could be done better. Overall it was a well put together movie.
