Delve into the Forgotten Realms (WoTSQ Part 1)

Welcome dear readers to the world of Forgotten Realms a world of high magic and high adventure. A world literally run by thousands upon thousands of gods and goddesses. But these series of books do not take place on the surface of this mystical and fantastic world. The War of The Spider Queen, takes place below the surface and below the ocean under the crust and cut off from the sun. Welcome to the underdark, a subworld of vast creatures and animals. Most predominately the Sub-Race of elves known as the Drow.

The premise behind Book one of The War of The Spider Queen is called Dissolution. We are introduced to the fact that the Drow's Matron Deity has gone silent. Lloth the goddess who corrupted a race of Elves into turning evil. With Lloth silent and seemingly disconnected from her followers all of her clerics subsequently lose their divine magic. This is disconcerting to the Drow especially the females who are the dominate of the race and tend to make all the rules of the Dark Elf cities. With their divine magics gone they know they are vulnerable to attack especially from their Arcane wielding male counterparts. Things in the city of Menzobaeranzen have become tense and male Drow have gone missing.

The book introduces the main characters very well and keeps you invested in the characters all through out the book. From beginning to end you want to find out more about the characters and what they are going to do next. This book alone made me want to go out and devour the following five books.

Standard to the start of any adventure series the book has the basic character types. You have, Fighter; Wizard; Cleric; Rogue; Ranger and Bard. Not all the characters introduced in the first book but that is okay because the next book will bring them in and they will add some new spice the already well tasting book.

Characters:
Ryld: Fighter and one of the Masters of Melee Magthere (The Drow School of fighters). At first he comes off as the slow type as is the usual when writing fighers. But as you read more about him you find him to be more mentally capable then he leads on especially when it comes to battle Strategy.

Phaerun Mizrym: Wizard and one of the Masters of Sorcere (Drow School of Magic), because of his station in the city and his up bringing Phaerun at first appears to be haughty egotistical and rude even to his long time "friend" Ryld. As the story goes on you find out that he has the power to back up everything he says he can do and that he is a clever enough person that you should proceed with caution when messing with him.

Quenthel Baenre: Cleric and Psion, Head Mistress of Arach-tinilth (The Drow School of Clerics) Next in line for the Spot of Matron of the first house of Menzobaeranzen Quenthel is literally one step away from supreme power in the entire city. But afflicted like the rest of the clerics of the clergy she can not access her divine powers and is being plagued by a seemingly endless assault of fiends.

Valas Hune: Rogue, Ranger: At this time in the story not much is known about Valas other then he is a member of a band of Mercs formed by the infamous Jaraxle.

I HIGHLY recommend you go out and pick up this book, it is a story that got me back into reading Fantasy Novels and is a book I have read at least four times.
